Rachel Fryer has been widely praised not only for her
virtuosity but also the depth of musical understanding and sensitivity.
She has a diverse educational background, having studied as far afield
as Kharkov, Ukraine, The
Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and The
Royal College of Music, where she was awarded a Masters Degree in
Advanced Performance and many prizes. She has received guidance from renowned
pianists including John Lill, Barry Douglas, Joanna MacGregor, Steven
Kovacevich and Bernard Roberts.Active both as soloist and accompanist, Rachel has given recitals for Music Societies including the Beethoven Piano Society in venues throughout Great Britain including Croydon's Fairfield Hall. Also she has given many performances for Live Music Now! founded by the late Sir Yehudi Menuhin. Rachel regularly appears as a concerto soloist and has broadcast on Classic FM and Ukrainian and Greek television and radio stations. She has performed on international cruise ships both as a soloist and accompanist where she co-ordinated musical ensembles, including the QE2 Millennium Cruise for which a world premiere was specially commissioned. She has worked with composers - including Richard Causton and Barry Mills - to premiere and present their work. In December 2005 Rachel gave the first performance of Light in the Dark by Samuel Becker, a commission which was funded by the Performing Rights Society. Committed to education work, Rachel Fryer is a Visiting Lecturer at the East Sussex Academy of Music and coordinates and runs projects and workshops with local secondary and primary schools.
